May 2025 – Congrats to Sydney and Sari who were awarded scholarships

Congratulations to Sari who was awarded a national NSERC USRA fellowship and to Sydney who was awarded a WISE scholarship from the University – both to work in the lab during the summer.

April 2025 – Congrats to Sydney and Rhiannon for their award winning undergrad theses.

Congratulations to Sydney and Rhiannon for successfully defending their undergrad thesis work. Rhiannon was awarded the best undergraduate thesis in Chemistry and Sydney was awarded the Hypercube undergraduate thesis award.  Sydney’s thesis was titled “The Effect Of Chemically Invalid Metalorganic Frameworks On The Predictive Abilities Of Machine Learning Models” and Rhiannon’s thesis was titled ” A Computational Workflow for Identifying Novel Organic Linkers in MOFs for CO2 Capture”.

April 2025 – Woo joins the editorial board of the Journal of Computational Chemistry

Professor Woo was invited to join the editorial board of the Journal of Computational Chemistry.

January 2024 – The Woo lab hosts the annual meeting for the ACO2RDS project

The Woo lab is part of the multi-disciplinary ACO2RDS project involving several research groups from Canada, USA, Germany and France. The goal is to study and develop adsorption based CO2 capture systems. This year the lab hosted the annual meeting at the University of Ottawa.

May 2021 – Marco, Scott and Victoria join the lab.  Marco as a Ph.D. candidate, Scott as a M.Sc. candidate and Victoria as a undergraduate summer student.

April 2021 – Jake awarded a NSERC CGS-D Scholarship

April 2021 – Congratulations to Jake for being awarded a NSERC CGS-D scholarship.  This is Canada’s top national graduate scholarship.

April 2021 – Congratulations to Adam on his new job.

April 2021 – Congratulations to Adam (M.Sc. student in the lab) for landing a job as a data scientist with Bell Networks.  He starts in May.

April 2021 – Lab awarded large MITACS grant

April 2021 – Congratulations to Professor Woo and Professor Arvind Rajendran (University of Alberta) for being awarded ~$500K from MITACS to develop materials for CO2 capture with an industrial sponsor.
